ELECTRICAL PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (Remote)

My client is a start-up business with significant backing from two globally leading Broadcasting companies. Their focus is to supply to various Charge Point Operators and encouraging Local Authorities to deploy the right balance of Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC) infrastructure with an aim to revolutionise the on-street EV charging marketplace.

ROLE

You would join this business as an Electrical Engineer involved in Product Development / Design on a permanent basis, in a role that allows you to work remotely (anywhere in the UK)!!

  • Electrical design (systems level) of LV & HV of Electrical Vehicle charging solutions, including feeder pillar dimensions, auxiliary components, batteries and power distribution
  • Creating and leading product / solution evolution pipeline
  • Field engineering, providing support during development, testing and service
  • Conducting root-cause analysis to identify product issues
  • Identify risks in solution design or deliverability, and proactively identifying solutions and remedies to rectify and enhance operational capability
  • Managing systems required for cross-department workflow management
  • Carrying out technical survey's on proposed installation locations
  • Auditing of completed installation, system registration and notification
  • Reporting to the Director of Delivery & Innovation (occasionally you may need to attend meetings in their London office in-person.
  • Must be able to travel to visit sites to undertake technical surveys around the UK as required

EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of EV charging solutions & systems design (or similar power gen products)
  • Low and High Voltage electrical distribution experience
  • Able to design blueprints, schematics, drawings & layouts for equipment installation
  • Experience in installation, commissioning, service / repair and testing of low voltage electrical and electronic systems (e.g. electrical containment, conduit and wiring for power, controls, lighting and data)
  • Familiar with BS 7671 and H&S regulations for Electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Able to obtained measurements & readings using volt & oh meters, insulation resistance & installation testers
  • Experienced with scheduled preventative and reactive maintenance inspections on structures, inverters, switchgear, AC/DC cabling etc.
  • Can provide advice & technical support during construction, start-up, testing, system commissioning & optimisation.
  • Ideally knowledge of environmental monitoring systems, sensors, low-power wide area networks (LPWAN) and telecommunication networks preferred
  • Knowledge of solar (PV) solutions & batteries (storage) systems (highly advantageous)
  • Registered & accredited with NICEIC & RECC (MCS) and NAPIT (Electrical)
